This series has been going on for many years every summer, but it was my first time in attendance. What a fool I have been for not attending this summer event much sooner. For some reason, I had always thought I didn’t like listening to jazz. That opinion has changed after last night.

After all, music is music. Almost entirely true.

Radam Schwartz was on keyboards; he was just fabulous. As was Chico Rouse on drums. The best was yet to come. Madame Pat Tandy has this amazingly fabulous voice. The acoustics at The Transpostation Center are terrific. Madame Pat and her voice just blew me away. G-d has blessed this woman with amazing vocals.

I intend to go back next Friday and wait to be amazed by more fabulous talent.

Asbury Park…..the City by the Sea.

What a wonderful place to live year round. Asbury Park: with its pristine beaches, rated #1 in Monmouth county and #5 in the state. We are an up and coming(back)beautiful city. We are a multi-cultural city and a place where everyone can feel at home. At least I do.

The bad hype about our beloved city is exactly what it is…total nonsense. I, for one, am tired of hearing how bad it is to live here, how bad the crime is, and how unsafe it is.

As beautiful as our city has become, there are still complainers ( I won’t mention any names from the daily emails I read). I think Gary Mottola has done wonders for our beachfront; more than anyone else has done in recent years. We are a thriving city once again, in part, thanks to Gary and Mattison Marquette.

Our downtown area is also thriving and alive; more so and getting better and better. We have to give thanks to all the private individuals for their time and efforts….and patience.

On Sunday’s now, I am manning my post at the new Boardwalk Visitors Center, operated by the Chamber of Commerce. I am definitely not bored; answering questions from hundreds of people stopping by and telling me how wonderful Asbury Park has become. As I look out onto the beach, all I see are hundreds and hundreds of people having fun; and definitely not leaving at 5:00 PM.

Yes…more needs to be done. We need to have more things for children and families, but, progress does take time. Let’s be patient!

I’m proud to be an Asburyan; and I’m sure many others are as well.
