“B Unique” Comes to Asbury Park
Despite tough economic times, new stores are opening in Asbury Park. At 723 Cookman Avenue, a punk and alternative clothing store, “B Unique”, recently opened it doors. In addition to new clothing, they also offer clothing on consignment. Need a few extra bucks? They will accept your clothing for consignment and even pass on a commission to you when your clothing sells.
How “B Unique” Came to “B”
In the spring of 2008, B Unique Clothing was born. With two creative people feeling a need for change and expand upon their artistic and expressive lifestyles – the wheels began to spin. Tara Collins and Ken Kurczeski started to explore the possibilities.
Tara’s fathers passing the previous winter became a sign, a sort of “Paranormal experience” for her. As she slept one evening, she was flooded with visions of a cool-ass store, which would become B Unique Clothing. She would find that Ken had shared these same visions earlier in his life and was eager to proceed with this (ad)venture!
Ken and Tara work very hard to create a fun and warm place to shop for Men’s and Women’s Punk, Rockabilly and Alternative edgy clothing, as well as Consignment clothing.
So the next time you’re on Cookman Avenue, make it a point to come in and browse, take a load off in the Lounge Area and of course, don’t forget to sign the “Graffiti Wall”!
