Lightly Salted Surf Art Series

By admin

Lightly Salted Surf Mercado, a retro-fashioned, funky surf shop and art gallery on the Asbury Park boardwalk, announced its plans today for its first “Lightly Salted Surf Art Series” on June 12. The night will feature all-around entertainment, as the surf shop premieres “Picaresque,” a newly released, long board surf film; an unveiling of work by artists Ty William and Rob Kulisek; and an after-party, music celebration with surf rockers “Bastard Lovechild of Rock and Roll”.

The recently opened Lightly Salted hopes their “Lightly Salted Surf Art Series” will immerse the summer crowds in traditional, old-school surf culture. Shop owners Scott Szegeski and Marilyn Schlossbach will use their oceanfront locale for surf clinics, art openings, movie screenings and more, as the summer unfolds.

Brought to us by High Sea Films and Flesh Profits Nothing, “Picaresque” documents what happens when a group of young, killer surfers search for waves from around the world with only a longboard in hand. This action-packed surf flick examines not only the distance longboard surfing has come since its inception, but also what today’s generation is doing to stay true to traditional surf roots. Waves seen throughout “Picaresque” include those of Australia, France, Mexico, Costa Rica and England, as well as the both coasts of North America.

This June 12 event is free. For more information, please call 732-455-3460, or visit www.surfmercado.com.
