21st Annual Asbury Park Jazz Fest
Featuring Alex Bugnon, Radam Schwartz and Anthony Nelson, Plus Gospel
In a town that’s tearing up the Jersey Shore as the new must-see destination, there’s still a classic that’s only gotten better with age.
Listed as one of the top ten places to hear the best of America’s music in the Asbury Park Press’ USA Weekend section, music lovers have flocked to the Asbury Park Jazz Festival since 1988 to enjoy one of the region’s most famous showcases for contemporary jazz. This free outdoor music festival, presented by the City of Asbury Park, is located in scenic Sunset Park. Featuring music and more, visitors can enjoy on-site food vendors, craft vendors or stroll to nearby restaurants, stores, antique shops and ocean beaches. For the second year in a row, The Asbury Park Press will be the event sponsor. The sounds of jazz legends and emerging artists will fill the summer air on the weekend of June 27th.
Alex Bugnon
In NYC where Alex spent four years backing up R&B performers such as Najee, Freddie Jackson, Keith Sweat, Patty Austin and James Ingram. Some of Bugnon recordings include: Tales From the Bright Side, Head Over Heals, 107 In The Shade, This Time Around and Love Season, which reached #2 on the R&B charts and was honored by Black Radio Exclusive as “Best Jazz Album” of 1990.
Radam Schwartz Organist
Radam’s prolific career has led to many successful recording. His own Organized (Muse Records) was mentioned in the B3 Bible as one of the essential organ records of all times.
Anthony E. Nelson, Jr. has made a name for himself as a composer and woodwindist, being proficient on several saxes, flute, clarinet and bass clarinet. Anthony’s talents have been utilized by a wide variety of artists including: “The O’Jays”, “The Duke Ellington Orchestra”, Faith Evans, “The Count Basie Orchestra”, Funk icons, “B.T.Expess” T.S.Monk, and the Ray Charles Orchestra.
Gospel music dominates the stage on Saturday afternoon featuring New Jersey’s most popular choirs, including Newark, NJ native Queeni & New Jersey Praise, Minister TR McAllister with Family and Friends.
